Many will Fall Away
But as the Spirit explicitly says that bin later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1)
As we are living in the end times, Satan will use all his resources to infiltrate the church of God with False doctrine, Seduction Spirits, Lies etc. The church should be the pillar and support of the truth. The gospel is awesome. But, people are falling away from the faith. The word translated “falling away” is used to describe a departure, a relocation from the place you were, a leaving. People who had faith can fall away from that faith into unbelief.
Hence the writer of Hebrews warns us in his epistle,Heb 3:12 Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God. There are people whose hearts are hardened into unbelief because of sin. Continual, habitual, unrepentant sin will harden your heart to the point of unbelief. If you live in sin for so long that you find it is easier to stop believing in God rather than to live under conviction, you are not a partaker of Jesus Christ. You are not saved.
How does this happen? As we said, it is caused by a sinful heart that hardens into unbelief. And one process by which that happens is people paying attention to deceitful spirits. It happens when people pay attention to doctrines of demons.
Deceitful Spirits : Make no mistake about it – there are demonic forces whose desire it is to cause you to believe a lie. Thus, they cook up all sorts of deceptions to lead you away from the truth of God. Paul warned us that deception could come through spiritual means. He said in Gal. 1:8 But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Angels can appear with different “gospels, and they do, the bible says so in 2Cor. 11:14 …even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Yes, deceitful spirits are hard at work, deceiving the world into believing that they are not accountable to a creator God, that they do not need to believe in Jesus Christ for salvation.
Doctrines Of Demons : Now, doctrines of demons infiltrate the church as well, in the form of false teachings. There are, of course, too many false teachings that have spread in today’s church to even begin to address even a fraction of them. They come from all sides, in every area of Christianity.
A perfect example of “Doctrines of Demons” are the proponents of the feel good preaching techniques, and the prosperity gospel’s get rich schemes which come from those whose purpose is self gain. They are many and they are demonic as are the emergent movement and those who promote contemplative spirituality.
If a pastor stands before a congregation week in and week out and only speaks of God as love, never venturing into the realm of God’s judgment, then that pastor is thoroughly neglecting those tough, sometimes evil, churned up waters of sin where we find most people actually live. He would be a pastor who resides only within the boundaries of political correctness; his congregation isn’t being taught the whole council of God. If lost folks only hear messages which peacefully tickle their ears sure they’re going to return for more tickling, but they will never become convicted of their sins. But let that pastor place them in the middle of their sin and he’ll be assured of a mass exodus. The truth hurts; lost people don’t want to hear the truth. If the preaching doesn’t lead people to conviction, repentance and asking God for forgiveness, that preaching is definitely not from God.
How are people drawn into the web of falling away? By PAYING ATTENTION to these deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons. Let’s instead pay attention to the Word of God, which teaches us the only true gospel. Remember God gave you the Holy Spirit to lead you into all Truth and bring us out of bondage, for where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty. May you grow in the Wisdom of God’s word and be grounded and rooted in the Truth of God’s Word.
